[The video kicks on first to show a partially-rolled up and dirty white shirt. (Are those blood stains?!) The stomach below it has faint scarring in the shape of what could be a large circle, or maybe a semi-circle. At any rate, the video pans up after a few seconds over the shirt, hitting a wall of bright red hair at the shoulders. Dried blood long-since turned brown stained her chin and mouth. Then the full, filthy face of a very alive and pissed off Kushina Uzumaki.]

Is this some kind of a joke?! I woke up in a room that isn't mine with some woman claiming to be my mother who looks about my age shoving a bag of stuff in my hands. My husband is missing, my baby is missing, my chakra is missing. But that's not the best part, ya know! Some guy shoved this thing on me!

[She turns the video down toward a Vulpix that's staring up at her with innocent brown eyes. It lets out a happy cry and attempts to nuzzle up against Kushina's leg. But the video-- and Kushina-- move away from it quickly. When the video comes back up, her hair is flowing out at every angle around her quickly reddening face.]

If I ever find the guy who gave this to me again, I'm gonna kill him, y'know!! What a sick joke! So someone tell me how to get rid of this thing!

That's Katon! He was my first one here. He was smaller before, fastest pokemon I have.

[He settled back to his former position with a grin.] He's pretty awesome. I got here in January and it was pretty cold then, snow on the ground, so he was good to have.

I'll bet he was definitely good to have. But his mane... do you get burned if you touch it?

Only if he wants to burn me. He's pretty touchy about people not me, so that's kinda a high risk if anyone else tries to ride him or something.

Huh, that's really cool. These Pokemon things are starting to grow on me.

Oh yeah, a lot of fire types can do that. I have a lot of flowery ones. [He gave her a sheepish smile.]

But I can't help it! Mokuton is one of those and her attacks are pretty spectacular when she actually gets into it. It's made me better too, since I spar with all of them, so even if my jutsu is broken, I work on the physical.

Taijutsu without chakra...

[First piece of silver lining as far as her ninja skills go has been found. A+ Kushina, it took your husband's (first) dead student to help you figure it out. For the first time since arriving, a huge grin appeared on her face.]

Why didn't I think of that?! That's brilliant, ya know! I can keep training even without any special abilities!

[Even though she was already pretty skilled in the chakra-less taijutsu department... well, she could always refine her skills. Right alongside any Pokemon she got.]

His name is Inton and he's my chandeleur, he's a ghost type and that's kind of how he eats usually? Just sort of pulls off the living things around him. He just likes to be a brat and do it without getting permission first. I've been trying to get him to knock it off. Usually it's not enough to really do any harm though, just make someone a little tired for a bit.

[Talk about mega creepy... She grudgingly gives one brownie point to the Kyuubi for not putting a drain on her energy. She pulls out the Pokeball from her bag holding her Vulpix.]

Think this stupid fox will drain my energy too?

Probably not. I think only ghost types can do that. And my psychic type talks in my head. Sometimes he lectures. About paint. Or flowers. Or the shapes of trees. [He pulled a face.]

That's a weird thing to give lectures about. Can't it lecture you on more important things?

[Like how to cook well without destroying a kitchen?]

[Kushina-nee don't bring kitchens into it. He's sorry for all the messes okay? HE IS!!]

Hahaha... no. He's trying really hard to be interesting and it's just... not... working.

[Still, guess where you're not going once Kushina brings all her sass and swag up to Blackthorn? Three guesses and the first two don't count. She remembers.]

Have you tried telling him topics you're interested in? Maybe that would make his lectures... not boring.
